"It's an integral piece of building a robust email marketing program. This is a no-brainer for any aspirational brand to put in their tech stack."
Seiji Liu
Co-Founder & COO at FormeAbout
Forme is a science-backed posture and wellness brand focused on longevity, performance, and daily well-being.
Founded by COO Seiji Liu, Forme has built a following of health-focused consumers who care about the science behind what they put in their bodies. The brand has grown into a category leader in premium wellness by combining rigorous product development with efficient marketing.
Challenge
Rising acquisition costs made every missed subscriber more expensive.
As paid channels have gotten more expensive year over year, Founder and COO Seiji Liu has been focused on making every marketing dollar work harder. His answer: leaning further into retention and lifecycle marketing to compound the value of every customer Forme acquires.
That put more weight on Forme's ability to convert every buyer into a long-term subscriber. But when Seiji examined how many customers were actually opting into email at checkout, he found a gap. Like many Shopify brands, Forme was using the default checkout consent flow, a generic "email me with news and offers" checkbox that meant 15 to 20% of Forme's highest-intent audience was completing purchases without ever entering the retention program.
"We were just using Shopify as an out-of-the-box solution. We didn't know there was an opportunity to be more efficient," says Seiji.
To close the gap, Seiji needed set-and-forget infrastructure. High-value, low-maintenance, and priced as fixed infrastructure, not variable fees that would balloon as the business scaled. Other tools solving the same problem charged on a variable model that could get expensive quickly.
"The cost itself is a no-brainer. When you compare, there's other solutions out there trying to do this, and it's an astronomical cost increase."
That combination is what led Seiji to Shoptin.
Solution
Shoptin captured every high-intent buyer as a subscriber.
Onboarding Shoptin was straightforward. The app connected seamlessly to Forme's Klaviyo account and Shopify Checkout, and the Shoptin team optimized the checkout consent language without altering the storefront. Once live, Forme's opt-in rate moved from the mid-80s to the high 90s, closing the gap Seiji had identified.
Today, Shoptin tailors the consent experience for every Forme shopper. The platform automatically detects each customer's region in real time, determines which consent framework applies, and serves the appropriate consent copy and disclosures. In doing so, it accounts for regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws across every market Forme ships to.
Shoptin runs the compliant consent layer end-to-end, keeping it current as regulations evolve. Forme's marketing team stays focused on retention strategy.
The team has redirected the cycles they used to spend thinking about opt-in growth into building better segmentation, personalized content, and retention strategy on top of a higher-quality subscriber base.
Results
Forme drove over $1M in repeat revenue and grew subscriber LTV by 41%.
In eight months with Shoptin, Forme has turned checkout consent into a compounding retention lever. Every additional subscriber captured at the point of highest intent flows into a lifecycle program that produces measurably more revenue per customer.
The results:
- 39K new subscribers captured in eight months
- $1M in repeat revenue from Shoptin subscribers
- 41% incremental lift per subscriber
Forme uses Shoptin's checkout-level SMS consent alongside email, applying the same region-aware consent logic to compound the retention revenue gains the brand has already seen from email subscribers.
"Because we've increased the volume without having to do much, it frees up time for our team to think about better segmentation, better targeting, better content. That's how we draw more value out of the customers we've already worked to acquire."
